Wharton County Junior College is teaming up with the Wharton County Junior College Foundation this fall to collect items for students in need. On Dec. 2, all four of WCJC’s campuses will collect items for the WCJC Homestead food pantry as part of “Giving Tuesday,” a national initiative that has become one of the most significant fundraising days of the year.
On Dec. 2, collection drop-offs will be open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at WCJC’s campuses in Wharton, Bay City, Sugar Land and Richmond. The Bay City location will have a drop-off box at the front desk while the other three campuses will have boxes in the counseling offices.
Items needed include:
In addition to in-kind donations, financial contributions will also be collected during “Giving Tuesday” to support wraparound services. These will cover such things as the Homestead food pantry, emergency student aid, Trio, and textbooks. Financial donations may be made by scanning the QR code on the event’s official flyer or by visiting Giving Tuesday 2025. Checks may also be mailed directly to the WCJC Foundation at 911 E. Boling Highway, Wharton, Texas, 77488.
