Who We Are

The Wharton County Junior College Foundation was established in 1954 under the leadership of F.J.L. Blasingame, C.P. McElroy, and R.D. Wright. The first board was composed of these community leaders and also included J.F. Hudgins, Donald Duson and Irving Moore.

Although the board members have changed over the years, the Foundation's mission has remained to raise funds through contributions and investments to benefit student scholarships, academic programs, and faculty development.

Our Mission

The mission of the Wharton County Junior College Foundation is to increase awareness of the Wharton County Junior College and provide philanthropic and external sources of support for the College students, faculty, staff, and programs.

True to its mission, the Wharton County Junior College Foundation financially supports Wharton County Junior College as it meets the needs of students, faculty, staff and programs. Recently, the Foundation has taken steps to move toward increasing the level of support we have to offer and are actively seeking to build our value and fundraising efforts within the Wharton County Junior College service area.

An office for the Wharton County Junior College Foundation has been established at the Wharton Campus, and is housed within the J.M Hodges Library. We welcome friends and visitors to stop by or contact the Foundation office to discuss opportunities to be a part of this exciting development.

The WCJC Foundation has a deep appreciation for the support it receives from its donors – community members, alumni, businesses/organizations, trusts and foundations. That support benefits students each year empowering them to build a brighter future for themselves, their families and the communities where they live and work. Recognizing the importance of donor support, the WCJC Foundation operates as a 501(c)(3) organization and contributions to the Foundation are tax-deductible as allowed by law.

“Successful people are not gifted; they just work hard, then succeed on purpose.”
- G.K. Nielson
