Endowments

An endowment provides a continuing source of funding from the Wharton County Junior College Foundation to Wharton County Junior College.  Through an endowment, a legacy can be created that honors a family, individual or supporter of Wharton County Junior College.   
     
Establishing an endowment includes:
  • Gift amount of $25,000. Can be established as a lump sum or in up to five yearly installments
  • Donor designates the area of support, i.e. scholarships, a specific program, capital improvements, etc.
  • Endowment funds are managed by an outside investment advisor in conjunction with the Wharton County Junior College Foundation's Board of Directors.
  • Donors receive an annual report of their endowment's performance and the recipient names.

Planned Giving/Legacy Gifts

Establishing a legacy gift during lifetime or creating one through a final estate plan are effective means of providing future giving without impeding a current lifestyle or income stream.  It can also be an effective tax planning strategy for highly appreciated assets.  Seeking the professional advice of an estate planner can provide planning strategies that benefit the donor as well as Wharton County Junior College.  For more information, contact the Wharton County Junior College Foundation at (979) 532-6981 or by email:  connect@wcjcfoundation.org.

Charitable Gifts through Wills and Trusts

Charitable gifts can also be made through a will or trust document that will provide future support to the Wharton County Junior College Foundation. Reasons to consider a charitable gift include:

  • The opportunity to leave a legacy
  • Can be updated as appropriate
  • Is a future gift; no cost today

With the help of an advisor, the Wharton County Junior College Foundation can be included in a will or trust document. It is advisable to consult with an attorney.

Following is sample gift language to include charitable giving through a will or trust document:

I leave (include dollar amount, percentage of estate or specific real estate) to the Wharton County Junior College Foundation, a 501(c)3 organization, located at 911 Boling Hwy, L-108-C, Wharton, TX 77488, Federal Tax ID #74-6062916 to be used for (include specific purpose of funds or for general use).
