WCJC Foundation welcomes Development Coordinator

Note: This press release is available to be downloaded in a formatted PDF at this link.

The Wharton County Junior College Foundation is proud to welcome Lesley Blanks as the WCJC Foundation Development Coordinator. Blanks joined the Foundation team in January and brings more than 20 years of teaching experience in education, along with a deep connection to the college.  A former WCJC faculty member, Blanks received her Bachelor of Arts from Texas A&M and Master’s degree from Stephen F. Austin State University.

“It is wonderful to be back at Wharton County Junior College,” said Blanks. “Seeing so many familiar faces has made the transition seamless, and I’m inspired by all of the new faculty and staff members, all of which share the same commitment to student success.  WCJC is an amazing resource for the Fort Bend County community. Through scholarships, the WCJC Foundation can help change the lives of students through educational opportunities, especially those who are the first in family to attend college.”

Blanks will be based at the WCJC Richmond campus, where she will work to strengthen partnerships with the surrounding businesses, chambers of commerce, and civic organizations, as well as those with WCJC’s former students.

“Lesley’s return to WCJC represents a meaningful investment in both our students and our community,” said Gary Gillen, Chair of the WCJC Foundation’s Board of Directors. “Her experience as an educator, combined with her passion for student success, positions her to make an immediate and lasting impact.  We are excited about the relationships she will build and the opportunities those connections will create our students.”

The Foundation is expanding engagement opportunities through WCJC Former Students & Friends, their recently launched alumni and community network. Members receive quarterly newsletters, invitations to special events and opportunities to connect with the college, including donor recognition events.
